Shirley Young
Margaret Shirley Davis Young, age 87, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 10th, at Indian Branch Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Young was born in Darlington County, daughter of the late Clyde William Davis and the late Wren Coker Howle. Shirley worked as a nurse at many places in the Darlington area, including: Oakhaven, Bethea, Wilson and Coleman-Aimar Hospitals. Mrs. Young loved being a nurse and it showed in the way she took care of her patients. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, reading and doing her daily crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Goodson of Hilton Head, SC, Cathy Young of Ashland, KY, Deborah (Andy) Rentz of Rock Hill, SC, and Sandy Plowden of Darlington, SC; her sons, Neil (Randy) Young of Gilbert, SC, David (Dani) Young of Hartsville, SC, eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine O’Neal and her grandchildren, Billy Plowden and Amanda Leigh Young.
