Sammie Louise Morrell Plummer, age 97 died Wednesday, January 19, 2022. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23rd at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lydia with burial following at Lamar Memorial Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.
Born on October 21, 1924, Sammie was the daughter of the late Charlie Morrell and Janie Sellers Morrell. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose family meant everything to her. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her sons, George “Robin” (Patsy) Plummer of Timmonsville, Charlie Toland (Linda) Plummer of Gastonia, NC, Billy Pierce (Sylvia) Plummer of Hartsville; daughters, Linda P. (Robert) Stone of Vero Beach, FL, and Polly Plummer Mercer; 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her daughter-in-law, Amy Plummer; two sisters, Carrie Sue Carter and Lula Jane Jeffords, both of Lamar; her caretakers, Lydia Bruce, Ann Flowers and T. Dixon; and her cat, Whitey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson “Dillie” Plummer; sons, Sammie Joe Plummer and Jeff Plummer; son-in-law, Danny Mercer; and a number of brothers and sisters.
