Peggy Bagwell, age 89, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 8 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home at 12:00pm, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Peggy was born on June 5, 1933 to the late John T. and Willie Ruth Whitley. Peggy was a devout Christian who spent most of her adult life serving the Lord and spreading the Gospel. She and her late husband, Mac McKeown, were the founders of Living Water Ministries in Guatemala. After Mac’s death, she married Burl Bagwell, and they travelled the world together spreading the Gospel. Mrs. Bagwell also authored two Christian books and worked as the bookkeeper at Piggly Wiggly in Darlington before they sold their business, and started their new journey with the Lord. In her free time she enjoyed watching old movies. She was an excellent cook and baker, and her children always reaped the benefits! But her heart was in making quilts, most of which she gave away with love.
She is survived by her children: DeNiece (Eddie) Jackson, Ronnie Glock, Dr. Pablo (Maria) McKeown, Martha (Sergio) Parra, Joy Books, Susan (Don) Carr, Debra (Jim) Guthrie, Paul (Kathy) Bagwell and a great amount of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her husbands, Mack McKeown, Burl Bagwell, son, Larry Glock, son-in-law, Jonathan Book, grandson, Mack Rogers, and her brothers, Buddy and Bob Whitley, also, their missionary “poodle” named Sammy.
Her family would love to express their greatest appreciation to the Agape Hospice Care for the excellent care they gave their mother.
