Pansy (Hill) Thomas

Pansy Hill Thomas, age 98, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18 in Lamar First Baptist Church at 2:00pm, a visitation will take place from 1:00 until 2:00 in the church. Burial will follow in Lamar Memorial Cemetery.

Pansy was born on June 23, 1924 in Lamar, SC. She was the last living child of the late Chapell Hill and Maida Plummer Hill. She worked at the Town Hall in Lamar for many years. Mrs. Thomas was the oldest member of Lamar First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for over 50 years.

Pansy is survived by, son, William H. “Billy” Thomas, Jr, grandchildren, William H. Thomas III, John Scott Howard, Tommy “Tom” Thomas, six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friend, Gwen Buffkin , cousin, Priscilla Bochette, niece, Ann Hudson,  special families to her, Guy Clements’ family and Derwin Eaddy’s family.

She is preceded in death by her husband William H. Thomas, Sr, a son, Chapell  Lide “Tommy” Thomas, brothers: J.C, George, Ray and Julian Hill, sisters: Thelma Laffoday, Calla May Fields, Margaret Hill, Faye Wilkes.
