Naomi Haynes Smith, age 73, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 16th from the times of 1:00pm until 2:00pm in First Church of God Darlington. A funeral service will be held in the church following the visitation in the church, with burial following in Darlington Memory Gardens.
Naomi was born in Spartanburg on September 17, 1950, daughter to the late Howard Henry Haynes and Ethel Irene Mitcham Haynes. Naomi graduated from St. John’s High School in 1968 and went on to graduate from Florence Darlington Technical College with a degree in nursing. She loved nursing and truly had a calling for it which showed through her care and love she provided for her patients. Naomi worked in the Old Florence General Hospital, Wilson Hospital which is now McLeod’s in Darlington, and Medford Nursing Center. She always loved spending time with family and especially her grandson’s. Naomi enjoyed singing before she became ill. She was a member of First Church of God Darlington.
Naomi is survived by her husband, David G. Smith; two daughters, Wendy (Robbie) Isgett of Lexington, Tiffany Bazen of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandsons, Dylan and Clayton Isgett. She is also survived by her three brothers, Billy (Joetta) Haynes of Summerville, David Haynes of Hartsville, Jimmy (Brenda) Haynes of Greer; brother-in-law, Marvin Tanner of Aiken; many nieces and nephews, and a special caregiver, Linda Allan.
In addition to her parents, Naomi is preceded in death by her sisters, Rachel C. Tanner, and Patricia “Patsy” I. Raisor.
