Mr. James Michael “Mike” Lloyd, age 69, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 30, 2022. Mr. Lloyd was born September 6, 1952 in Hartsville, the son of the late Boyd S. Lloyd, Sr. and Letha Prosser Lloyd. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marta Lloyd.
Mike retired from DuPont of Florence after working more than thirty years in the Finishing and Power areas of the facility. Also, he was the proprietor of Lloyd’s Appliance Company of Lamar. After retiring from DuPont, Mike was employed by Advanced Auto Parts of Florence as a delivery driver. Throughout the years, Mike was very dedicated and served the community of Lamar in a number of ways. He was a former volunteer member of Lamar Rescue Squad, former Fire Chief of Lamar Fire Department, and the original Board Member for Darlington County Fire District, Station 14 in Lamar. Also, he served on the Town Council for a number of years, and was a consultant for Lamar’s Water Department. While serving the Town of Lamar, he managed to work full time and be a dedicated and loyal husband, father, and grandfather. NASCAR, Richard Petty, working on his die-cast models of race cars, projects around the house, giving people a good laugh, being in the middle of many shenanigans, and taking care of his girls were his favorite things.
He was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Michelle Lloyd and Angela Lloyd both of Lamar, and a beloved granddaughter, Blake Lloyd of Lamar; also his brother and “Good Buddy”, Boyd (Frances) Lloyd of Lamar; nieces Pammie (Tony) Windham of Lamar, and Lisa (Brad) Jordan of Lamar; sister-in-law Pammie Bell of Lamar; nephews Ryan (Heather) Bell of Florence; Kevin (Kacey) Bell of Lamar, and a host of cousins and friends that were dear to his heart.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday, May 2 at Belk Funeral Home in Lamar. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 on Tuesday, May 3, at Lamar United Methodist Church , with burial following in Lamar Cemetery.
