Mrs. Mary Lucille McKay Harrell, age 78 beloved wife of Wayne Hepburn Harrell entered the glorious gates of Heaven Wednesday morning September 14, 2022 surrounded by family at McLeod Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to everyone she met. Mary was born August 31, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Curtis A. McKay and Irene Griggs McKay of Darlington; SC. Mrs. Harrell was retired from St. John’s Elementary School where she taught kindergarten for over 28 years. Mrs. Harrell was the organist for 37 years at Swift Creek Baptist Church where she was also a member. Her favorite job was taking care of the yard. She would spend hours creating her beds and making sure everything was “Just Right” even if it meant getting on her hands and knees edging with scissors.
Surviving Mrs. Harrell is her husband of 57 years, Wayne Hepburn Harrell: two children that she cherished dearly Kam (Kayla) Harrell of Hartsville and Ashlee (Pam) Harrell of Florence. Her brother William A. McKay (Judy) of Belmont, NC. Her partner in crime Ondrea (Joe) Burch. Sister in laws Mary(Gene) Lohman and Vida Carnes of Florence, SC. Brother in law Tim(Pam) Harrell of Colorado. Grandchildren: Johnathon Harrell, Kamry McDaniel, Austin Harrell, Colton Harrell.
Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by her parents Curtis A. McKay and Irene Griggs McKay, a sister she loved dearly Amanda Jean Bland and her grandson Ethan Wade Harrell.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20th from 3pm to 4pm at Swift Creek Baptist Church.
Mrs. Harrell’s funeral service will follow at 4pm at Swift Creek Baptist Church. Burial will commence at Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
