Marion Baxley, Jr.

Marion Baxley, Jr., age 67 died Tuesday, January 18, 2022. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior.

Born in Hopewell, Virginia on August 16, 1954, Marion was the son of the late Marion Baxley, Sr. and Lorrine Alford Tart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; and then was a police officer for Marlboro, Dillon, and West Columbia. Marion was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the piano and guitar; he enjoyed gardening and loved his animals.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Ellen Knight Baxley; two sons, Benjamin E. (Lisa) Baxley of Fleetwood, NC, and Matthew C. Baxley of Dillon; grandchildren, Emily, Lilly Ann, Reilly, Jayleah, Marina, Jessica, and Morgan; step-father, James E. Tart of Latta; brother, Malcolm (Glinda) Baxley of Elgin; two sisters, Sandra (Johnny Mack) Brigman of Latta and Joyce (Don) Maddox of Columbia; mother-in-law, Suzanne Knight of Darlington; and his favorite nieces, Sydney and Alexis Howell.
