Margaret “Meg” Vaughan Garges, age 76 passed away on October 24, 2021 at McLeod Hospice House. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 29th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery.
Meg was born on November 5, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Richard S. Vaughan, Sr. and Margaret A. Vaughan. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Craig Garges (Becky) of Florence and Trent Allen Garges of Hartsville; one granddaughter, Jenna Grace Garges and two step-grandchildren, Noah and Jessica; and two step-great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Collin. She is also survived by her sister, Theresa V. McCall and sister-in-law, Jean W. Vaughan; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard S. Vaughan, Jr.
Meg was a graduate of Columbia College. She worked as a teacher in Hartsville and in real estate. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville and served as an Elder. Meg was active in Hartsville Interfaith Ministries and worked as a Guardian ad Litem.
