Margaret Barkley Smith

Margaret Barkley Smith, 81, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC on September 8, 2023, at 8:15 p.m. She is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She will be cremated, and a service will be held at a future date in Daphne, Alabama.   

Margaret was born in Guntersville, Alabama, but made her life in Atlanta, GA where she worked at Van Heusen Shirts until she retired at the age of 70.  Margaret will be remembered for her strong will and hard work ethic.  She loved square dancing, boating, camping, and traveling.  She was always full of laughter and could find humor easily.  She will be missed, but we are thankful she is at resting on God's celestial shores until we will see her again.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Howard) Myers; son, Mark (Jennifer) Smith; grandchildren, Steven Smith, Kimberly Smith, Jesse Smith, and Abigail Smith. She is also survived by her brother, A.G. (Kay) Barkley, and nephews, Scott Barkley and Lisa Baker.
