Lula Timmons DeFee

Lula Timmons DeFee, age 95 died Wednesday, June 15, 2022. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18th in the mausoleum at Florence Memorial Gardens, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born in Timmonsville, SC on September 1, 1926, Lula was the daughter of the late Albert O. Timmons and Vendle Matthews Timmons. She retired from G.E., and later worked at Tomlinson Sales for 20 years, retiring in 2007 at the age of 81. She loved working in her yard and often said that digging in the dirt was her therapy. Lula loved her family and reading the Bible. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church since 1955.

Surviving are her daughter, Martha Rae Byrd of Darlington; one grandson, Douglas Martin Byrd, Jr. of Darlington; two great-grandsons, Austin Byrd of Cades, and Trey Byrd of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Lynne Timmons of Timmonsville; and a special niece, Susie Williams of Darlington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Joseph DeFee; six brothers, Watson Timmons, Albert L. Timmons, Jessie Byrd Timmons, Dallas E. Timmons, Hubert E. Timmons, and Charles Henry Timmons; two sisters, Susie Bell Pierce and Vendle Jean Hayes; son-in-law, Martin Byrd.
