Laverne (Poole) Owens

Laverne Poole Owens, age 81, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm Tuesday, April 25th in Lamar First Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm, with burial following in Lamar Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Laverne was born in Wrightsville, Georgia on September 16, 1941 to the late James Dawson Poole and Myrtle Simpson Poole. She loved the Lamar Silver Foxes and hardly ever missed a chance to watch her grandchildren, Tyler and Abby play. Laverne also enjoyed gardening, before her health declined you could always find her tending to her plants and flowers. She believed birthdays were special and never missed sending a card. She attended Lamar First Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School Class.

Laverne is survived by her daughter; Pamela Bunch of Lamar, grandchild; Erin (Tony) McManus of Lamar, two great-grandchildren; Tyler and Abby McManus, and siblings; Randy (Eileen) Poole of Kennesaw, GA and Betty Jo Roberson of Adrian, GA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant son and infant daughter, Lisa Marie Dally.
