Joyce Ann (Barber) Carr

Joyce Ann Barber Carr, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19th from the times of 10:00am until 10:30am in Belk Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home following the visitation at 10:30am, with burial following the service in Florence Memorial Gardens.

Joyce was born in Darlington on February 1, 1942, to the late Charles William Barber and Ila Mildred Lee Barber. Joyce graduated from St. Johns High School and went on to work in the Vital Records Department at DHEC in Darlington. She played the piano at Cavalry Baptist Church for many years. During Christmas time all of her family gathered to hear Joyce and her mother play the piano together.

She is survived by her son, Chip Carr; daughter-in-law, Sue Carr; brothers, David Barber, and Jerry (Karen) Barber. Joyce is also survived by her grandson, Myrick Sha Hatcher.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Howard Carr, Sr.; sister, Lynn B. Tolson; brother, Charles Wayne Barber; niece, Lisa Ann Boozer; and nephew, Richard Peter Thornton.
