Joan Bumgarner Bloom, 74, passed away Thursday, April 1st surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Asheville, NC, on November 25, 1946; daughter of Charles Bumgarner and Jean Deitz Bumgarner. She lived in Lamar for 49 years and was a teacher for over 30 years in Darlington county schools. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church and the Women of St. Anthony's. She'll be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was a giving and loved member of the community and is survived by her husband of 53 years, John A. Bloom, Sr.; son, John (Keellin) "J.J."; daughter, Angela Jean "A.J."; and granddaughter, Giovanna.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 6th at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Florence. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 5th in the Lamar chapel at Belk Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Friends of Lamar Library Park Fund or McLeod Hospice.
