Georgia Lane Armstrong, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 after a brief illness. Visitation will take place from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Saturday, November 11th in Belk Funeral Home, Darlington, SC. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 2:00pm in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home.
Georgia was born on May 27, 1952 daughter of the late Sullie Weaver Lane and Craven Lee Lane, Sr. of Darlington. Georgia graduated from St. John’s High School and the College of Charleston where she received her Bachelors Degree in Education. She then attended Eastern Kentucky University where she earned a master’s degree in education. Georgia taught school in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Through Georgia’s teaching style and her giving nature, she was able to make lasting impacts on many of her students. Following her teaching career Georgia then took on the role of office manager for her husband’s ENT Practice in Piqua, Ohio. After she and Norm retired, they moved to Bradenton, Florida. Georgia truly loved life and her family. She also loved to travel and entertain. Her generous loving heart, and her contagious smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
Georgia is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Dr. Norman Armstrong, step-children: Dawn (Mitsu) Diley, Ed (Mindy) Armstrong, Dave (Leah) Armstrong, Debbie (Rico) Sandhu, Cindy (Jake) Howard, nine step-grandchildren and four step-greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Janice (Blair) Owens, Susan (Charles) Trantham and brother, Lee (Dixie) Lane. Georgia is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
