Evelyn Heck

Evelyn Cooley Heck, age 84, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 5 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00am at Belk Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born in Natchez, Mississippi on October 4, 1937. She was daughter of the late James Carl Cooley and Adeline Bolen. Evelyn worked at Carolina Hospital as a LPN. She always supported her husband’s work in the ministry, serving as a Sunday School teacher and a church worker.

She is survived by her children Joseph (Ellen) Heck, Jr. of Bath, N.C. and Kathleen (Robert) Sinclair of Darlington, grandchildren: Phillip (Cameron) Heck of Snow Hill, N.C., Benjamin (Grace) Heck of Southport, N.C., Travis (Julie) Sinclair of Florence, Sarah (Joseph) Weinstein of Philadelphia, P.A., Beverly (Jeryl) Allen of Pantego, N.C., greatgrandchildren: Eric Heck, Olivia Heck, Brandon Heck, Karsyn Heck, Lincoln Sinclair, Sarah (Dustin) Hollis, Shelby Allen. Siblings, Audry (Jimmy) Morgan of Bay St. Louis, M.S. and James Cooley of Canton, M.S.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Heck, Sr., sisters, Edith Cooley, Margaret Beecher, Mary Broussard, and brother Charles Cooley.
