Born February 18, 1956, Darlene was the daughter of the late James Herbert Watkins and Sarah Mae Warren Watkins. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews very much and was at her happiest when spending times with the ones she loved. Darlene, having a “green thumb” always enjoyed working in her yards, tending to her flowers and plants. She will also be remembered for her love of animals, especially her dogs: Fifi, Pierre, Benji, Sweet Pea and Sugar Britches. Her loved ones will miss hearing her say “Hey Sweet Baby Girl” and “See you later Alligator”. Darlene was a member of the Hartsville First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Jim, Mr. Randy Ard, Ms. Essie and family, your care and love for Darlene and Walt over the years is appreciated more than you’ll ever know.
She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Brown of Darlington; grandchildren, Autumn Tougas and Christopher Brown; sister, Donna (Marty) Boseman of Hartsville; and brother, Dennis (Marie) Watkins of Darlington, two nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walton “Walt” Stone, who died in 2019.
Anyone wishing to follow the family to the service is asked to meet at Belk Funeral Home no later than 9:30 Friday morning. After the service, friends are invited to Krispy Kreme on Palmetto St. , to enjoy a cup of coffee. After all, Darlene was known to love a good cup of coffee with friends! Due to Covid-restrictions at Krispy Kreme, this will be an outside “parking lot” gathering.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the family c/o Belk Funeral Home, Po Box 523, Darlington, SC 29540, to help with expenses.
