Clifton Pickrel

Clifton “Pick” Pickrel, age 80 passed away Friday, May 07, 2021. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 10th at Welsh Neck Baptist Church with burial following at the church cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Monday at the church.

Born on June 5, 1940 in Gretna, Virginia, Clifton was the son of the late Harold Vernon Pickrel and Doris Hankins Pickrel. He was employed by Burlington Industries for 45 years, retiring in 2004 as Quality Control Manager. Clifton was an avid sports fan. He was captain of his high school baseball and basketball teams, played church league softball, and coached Recreation and Dixie Youth baseball. Clifton was a member of Welsh Neck Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Pickrel; sons, Kevin (Rebecca) Pickrel of Cheraw, Michael (Suzanne) Pickrel of Myrtle Beach; step-sons, Rodney Keith of Society Hill and Mark (Pam) Keith of Aberdeen, North Carolina; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Kristian Pickrel, Garrett Pickrel, Braylin Pickrel, Abigail Pickrel, Daniel Keith, Ryan (Cassie) Keith, Nolan Keith; and a great-granddaughter, Rose Keith. He’s also survived by a brother, H.V. (Ann) Pickrel, Jr. of Gretna, Virginia;

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wiley Pickrel; and a sister, Sondra Pickurel.
