Carolyn Watford Gibbs

Carolyn Watford Gibbs, age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 12th in Timmonsville First Baptist Church from 2:00pm until 3:00pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 3:00pm, with interment immediately following in Lamar Cemetery.

Carolyn was born in Lamar on August 19, 1943, daughter of the late Luther Watford and Macie Amerson Watford. Carolyn worked with J.C. Penneys for several years until her retirement, she then went on to be the owner and operator of the Lamar Florist & Gift Shop. Mrs. Gibbs was a devoted wife and caregiver to her late husband, Bobby Gibbs, who passed away in 2022. Carolyn loved spending time with her family and was an excellent cook. She was a member of Timmonsville First Baptist Church.

Carolyn is survived by her brother, Richard (Mary) Watford of Bishopville and her sister-in-law, Hazel Watford of Lamar, nieces and nephews: Rhonda (Rob) Fender, Sonia Blackmon, Susan (Matt) Henke, Terry (Rebecca) Truett, Cheryl Langston; Nancy (Paul) Booth. Also, her next door neighbors and best friends, Hamer and Ann Parnell, who was thought of more as a sister than friend. She is also survived by her pet cats, Holly and Radar.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gibbs and sisters, Margie Truett, Jackie Jones and brother Jerry Watford.
