Barbara Russ Powell

Barbara Russ Powell, age 81 died Saturday, January 15, 2022. A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 19th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with burial following at Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Belk Funeral Home.  A Rosary service will be held prior to the visitation.

Born in Staten Island, New York on September 6, 1940, Barbara was the daughter of the late Thomas Dewitt Russ and Marion Faulkner Russ. She worked for Washington Mutual for 22 years until her retirement. Barbara loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and she loved her church and church family.

Surviving are her children, Johnny (Suzanne) Powell, Jr.,  of Maryland, Deborah (Freddy) Sturkie of Darlington, Scott (Cindy) Powell of Florence, and Jennifer (Robbie) Williams of Florence; grandchildren, Johnny Powell, III, Jessica Powell, Christopher (Amy) Sturkie, Candice (Brian) Nealey, Scottie Powell, II, Hunter Powell, Nathan Williams, Dustyn (Bri) Williams, and many loved great-grandchildren; and special friends, Marlon and Raeanne Malvagomez.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 2536 Hoffmeyer Rd. Florence, SC 29501.
