Arthur Lemmons, Jr. Obituary

Arthur Mack “Mackie” Lemmons, Jr., age 77, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and his beloved daughters. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so Wednesday, February 3rd between 1-5 p.m. at Belk Funeral Home.

Born on December 11, 1943, Mack was the son of the late Arthur Mack Lemmons, Sr. and Venice Truett Lemmons. He served in the United States Air Force after graduating from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!); and then worked and retired from Proctor and Gamble as a district sales manager. During his retirement he continued to work various jobs but, his favorite and most proud was as the custodian and ‘jack of all trades’ at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hillsborough, NC.

Mack’s pastimes included spending time with his children and grandchildren, shagging, listening to beach music, and frequenting the beach. He owned and operated an online beach music website called ‘Mack’s Place at the Beach’ and enjoyed conversing about all things related to beach music with his thousands of subscribers.  Mack continued his father’s legacy by operating ‘Mack’s Place at the Darlington Raceway’ allowing fellow Nascar fans a safe place to park their RV’s for the weekend races. Mack was a member Freedom Baptist Church in Darlington.

Surviving are his soulmate and love of his life of 50 years, Sandra “Sandy” Horner Lemmons; two daughters, Angela Lemmons (David) Duty of Durham, NC, and Rebecca Lemmons (Jeffrey) Massengill of Fuquay-Varina, NC; nine grandchildren (Ashleigh, Bayley, Macks, Nathaniel, Samuel, Matthew, Campbell, Connor, and Catherine), two great-grandchildren (Samuel and Aubriella); and his two fur babies (Maggie and Barkley). He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Lemmons; and a daughter, Jennifer Lemmons Price.

The family would like to thank Agape Hospice for caring for Mack and supporting them during the last few months of his life here on Earth.

Donations may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 1416 Lamar Hwy. Darlington, SC 29532 or Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

A recording of the service will be made available online at www.belkfuneralhome.com.
