Annabelle Boyd Obituary

Annabelle Coleman Boyd, age 97 passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 30th at Temple Free Will Baptist Church from 2-3 p.m. with funeral service following at 3 p.m., directed by Belk Funeral Home. Burial will take place following the service at Grove Hill Cemetery, with a reception following at the church.

Born on May 6, 1924, Annabelle was the daughter of the late John Henry Coleman and Maybelle Bradshaw Coleman. After high school she worked for Sonoco where she met and married her husband Delmar Boyd. They would move to Montgomery, AL and Richmond, VA because of Delmar’s work. After he took a job oversees, Annabelle would move back to Darlington to raise their three kids and take care of her mother and her brother, Tom. She worked at Coggeshall Department Store for over 20 years until it closed. She was an active member of Temple Free Will Baptist Church where she worked cleaning the church for 35 years and was its oldest member.

Mrs. Boyd loved unconditionally her family, friends, her church and her church family. She had boundless love for everyone and never met a stranger. She would welcome everyone into her life and home with open arms. She was famous for her sweet tea, a recipe that remains a secret to this day. Annabelle will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her son, Wayne “Hootie” (Lynn) Boyd of Florence and Gail (David) Marlowe of Darlington; grandchildren, Amber Miles, Priscilla Metropol, Coleman (Heather) Boyd, Whitfield Boyd, Meagan Campolong, John Brett (Emma) Campolong, Chase (Molly) Campolong, and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her son-in-law, John Campolong, III.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Boyd; daughter, Debbie B. Campolong; brothers, John, Roy, Henry, Tom and Monroe Coleman; and her sister, Lucille McKenzie.

Memorials may be made to Temple Free Will Baptist Church, 1660 N Governor Williams Hwy, Darlington, SC 29540.
