Wylie "Jody" Joel Hopkins

Wylie Joel "Jody" Hopkins, age 70, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 18 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 on Thursday at Belk Funeral Home and other times at his daughters home, 928 Syracuse Street.

Born in Florence, SC on October 15, 1954, he was the son of the late Wylie Andrew Hopkins and the late Helen Vincent Hopkins. Jody worked as a carpenter for the majority of his life and often helped out Logan Construction Privette Construction and for Hugh White. He was talented with his hands, and even though he received no formal education, he was made foreman of several construction jobs. When he wasn't working, he could be found wetting a hook in the nearest body of water or taking a ride on his moped.

He is survived by his daughters, Renea (Bobby Kennedy) Hopkins, Crystal (Chris) Roberts, grandchildren: Jordan and Caleb Kennedy, CJ and Ryan Roberts; great-grandchildren: Paiton, Claire, Junior, Marie Rose and Ryleigh Roberts.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life Brenda Sue Hopkins his wife of 50 years, brothers: Leslie, Kenny, Jimmy and Waylon Hopkins.
