William "Willie" Willis, age 92, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 10th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home, and other times at the home, 2049 Rogers Rd. Darlington.
Mr. Willis was born May 6, 1926; the son of the late Charles Norman Melton and Lillie Mae Willis Melton. He served in the U.S. Army, and then worked as a carpenter for Sessoms Builders. He loved his children and grandchildren, and he was affectionately known to them as "Pa". He was known for being an accomplished horse shoe player, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Willie was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are his sons, Will (Chris) Willis, Randy (Monice) Willis, Roger (Lee Ann) Willis, and Bobby Willis; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jean (Vernon) Harding of Victoria, VA, and a special friend, Sallie Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Watford Willis; son, Bruce Willis; granddaughter, Tracie Willis; two brothers, and four sisters.
