William "Bill" Jerald Weatherford, Sr., age 86, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. A visitation will be held in Belk Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10th from the times of 3:00pm until 4:00pm. A funeral service will take place at 4:00pm in the chapel following the visitation, with burial taking place in Darlington Memory Gardens.
Born and raised in Darlington, SC from a family of ten children, eight boys and two girls. William married Stella Linda Anderson on December 23, 1959 in Darlington, SC. He worked for General Motors for thirty years, only taking one week off for sick time in all those years. Also, all seven brothers worked along side him at GM's different plants in Flint, Michigan, they all returned home after thirty years of service. William and Linda celebrated sixty-four years of marriage together on December 23, 2023. They had four children together, William Jerald, Jr., Debra (Matt) Hanel, Judy Neuman, Michelle (Jack) Swartstrom. He loved to fish with his brothers, brothers-in-law, sons-in-law, kids and grands. He loved to attend and watch NASCAR on TV. William was a member at Church of God prophecy for fifty-six years and enjoyed the fellowship and love of Jesus Christ. Special mention of Pastor Kevin Howard whom was like a grandson. William and Linda have five grandchildren, Jason (Heidi) Hanel, Andrea Hanel, Bradford Sothen, Justin Anderson, Ashley (Gabriel) Garza, followed by great-grandchildren, Waylon, Arianna, Aaliyah; whom he loved very much. Godfather to Adam Henry Weatherford and Shawna Mae Walter. He always said; "The meaning of life is a new baby". His nick name was "Doll Baby" as he had beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes. The whole family loved to vacation together throughout the years and made lots of memories. William was known for his joking and bantering with his siblings, family and his friends. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.
William was preceded in death by his father, Carl O'Neal Weatherford, Sr., mother, Mattie Mae Rogers Weatherford, siblings, Carl D. (Viola), Clyde (Marjorie), Grady, Murel (Mary), Laurel (Eunice), Thomas O'Neal (Patricia), Dorothy (James Lee), Blondell (George "G") Gardener. Special mention, son-in-law, Richard Neuman, great-grandson, Landyn William Hanel whom was taken to soon, (Take care of him gramps), and an abundance of aunts, uncles and cousins.
