Rev. William M. Taylor Sr.

August 19, 1933 — December 31, 2024

Lamar

Reverend William Marshall Taylor, Sr., 91, of Lamar, SC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, after a brief illness. Rev. Taylor was born on August 19, 1933 in Lamar, SC to Glen and Alma Taylor. He was one of ten siblings. Rev. Taylor attended Lamar schools and became an ordained minister in 1977. He worked at DuPont and Reeves Bros. in Bishopville, SC, and pastored part time for years until he went into full time ministry in 1977. Rev. Taylor pastored Lamar Pentecostal Holiness Church and Christian Pathway Fellowship of Lamar. Affectionately known to his 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as "Papa",  he was a Godly man who was exceptionally knowledgeable in the Word of God. Papa was loving and jolly, and had a God given gift for caring for people in need. He loved to preach and pray for people as the Lord called him to do, especially his large family, naming each by name every day. Papa also loved hunting, fishing, carpentry, and enjoying the great outdoors. Surviving are his children, Marshall (Rene') Taylor of Florence, Sherrie (Simon) Winburn of Bishopville, and Tony (Kathy) Taylor of Hartsville. Grandchildren, Jessica (Christopher) Schmidt of NY, Justin (Casey) Taylor of Charlotte, Ryan (Meonica) Taylor of CA, Christopher Privette of Bishopville, Benjamin Winburn of Bishopville, and Tanner Bowers of McColl. Great grandchildren, Marshall, Mason, Ella Rose, Noah Schmidt, Will, Millie, Oliver Taylor, and Meonica, Blake, Gracie, and Georgia Taylor. Also surviving are his siblings Judy (Don) Kellum, Marion Hagood, Billy (Eula) Taylor, and Charles Taylor. Rev. Taylor was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosa Parnell Taylor, and siblings Calvin, James, Carroll, a baby sister, and Wayne Taylor of Sumter. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of McLeod Hospice House and MRMC, as well as a special thanks to Ms. Rita Harris, who was a precious help and friend to Papa. Memorials can be made to Christian Pathway Fellowship P.O. BOX 757  Lamar, SC
