William Lanier Sumner, Jr.

William "Little Billy" Lanier Sumner, Jr. passed away on Sunday, May 28th, 2023.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 at Welsh Neck Baptist Church in Society Hill, with a graveside service immediately following in the church cemetery.

Billy was born October 6th, 1957 in Bennettsville, son of William "Bill" L. Sumner, Sr. and Martha Blackman Sumner. He served his country in the United States Army. Billy was a mechanic and welder throughout his life and worked with Modern Maintenance.  He enjoyed his Jeep Club, making radios, and working on Harley Davidsons.

In addition to his parents of Darlington, he is survived by his sons, Ray Sumner of Darlington and "Fitz" Sumner of Joplin, MO, grandchildren: Sarah Sumner, Camryn Sumner and Kloe Sumner, a brother, Tom Sumner of Darlington, two sisters, Katie (Paul) Blackwell of Cheraw, Joye (Bubba) Kirven of Darlington and several nieces and nephews.
