Wayne Howell

December 28, 1952 — September 3, 2022

David Wayne Howell, age 69, passed away September 3, 2022 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Wayne was born on December 28th, 1952 into a large loving family. He is the son of the late William B. Howell and Nellie Olivia "Lib" Howell. He was a third generation farmer, who loved his cows and goats, and loved what he did everyday. Wayne had a great love of sports. He loved the game of baseball, and his favorite team was the New York Yankees. In his early years he was a proud Lamar Silver Fox, and he always gave the Gamecocks his support. Wayne loved watching the Green Bay Packers play, hunting with his dogs, and playing golf. Most of all, Wayne loved his family, especially his grandchildren. His happiest times were spent babysitting them. He was a member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church, and was loved by the Oates community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia Andrews Howell, children: David (Shanna) Howell of Oates, Russell (Shannon) Howell of Oates, Heather Howell of Bishopville, Scarlet (Frankie) Hall of Oates, Grandchildren: Caroline (Hunter) Yarborough, Katlyn (Tyler) Howell, David Howell, Jr. "Mad-Dog", Austin Howell, Payton Howell "Puddin", Avery Howell "Little Red", Landon Hall, Bryson Hall, Presley Jane Hall, Great-Grandchildren: Ridge Yarborough and Waylon Lutcken, Sister Brenda (Jerry) Ayers and Brother Larry(Jean) Howell both of Florence, Brother-In-Law Jesse Flowers of Darlington. He also leaves behind farm family members: Marvetta Gilbert and Howard Ratliffe. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister Dora Lynn Flowers and a farm family member: Rudell Brown.

The Howell family would like to say a special thank you to all of the friends and family that reached out during Wayne's illness. Every kind act and gesture of love was greatly appreciated including the countless calls, cards, and visits. They would also like to say a special thank you to Wayne's oncologist Dr Rao and his nurse Amy for their wonderful supportive care.

A funeral service will be held at Mt. Elon Baptist Church on Tuesday September 6 at 3:30pm with the burial following in the church cemetary. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service.
