Virginia Ann DeFee

Virginia Ann “Ginny” DeFee, age 81, of Darlington, SC, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 at the McLeod Hospice House. She was born on April 29, 1944, in Darlington to Willie and Vivian Flowers Suggs. Ginny dedicated her life to her family and work in the paper product manufacturing industry, where she proudly served in the Human Resources department at Dixie Cup for over 30 years.

Ginny will be remembered for her warm smile, her unwavering kindness, and her love the Lord. Mrs. Defee was an independent woman and enjoyed being on the go and staying busy, Her many friends were dear to her and she cherished time spent with them. Whenever she wasn’t working or staying busy, she found peace working in her flower beds, traveling and going to shows.

She is survived by her son, Michael DeFee of Darlington, her granddaughter, Kelsy (Tee) Outlaw of Bishopville and siblings Laura (Tim) Schweighart of CA, Glenn (Debbie) Suggs, Gregg (Lisa) Suggs, and Scott (Angie) Suggs all of Darlington. She also has her first great-grandchild on the way!

A Graveside services honoring Ginny’s life will be held on February 16, 2026 at1:00 pm in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Allan DeFee.
