Troy D. Melton, Jr., passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 79. A visitation will be held at Belk Funeral Home in Darlington, Thursday February 5, 2026 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. His funeral service will be held in the chapel starting at 3:00pm with burial immediately following at Darlington Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of Terry and Candy Lee, 2204 Clara RD, Darlington.

Born on March 4, 1946 in Darlington to Troy D. Melton, Sr. and Dorothy Miller Melton. He was affectionately referred to as “Oompa Lompa” and “Chappie” thru the years. He worked 28 years at Dixie Cup working in the maintenance department. Troy enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years he enjoyed racing his #29 Falcon and that became his favorite NASCAR number as well. He loved to stay busy tinkering in his barn, building benches, tables and whatever else came to mind with his nine million screws. He cherished spending time with his family and loved to watch wrestling everyday of the week. Troy is survived by his children: Jeff (Donna) Melton, Candy “Dodie”(Terry) Lee, and Chris (Judy) Melton. Grandchildren: Ashley(Dustin), Ty(Madison), Anthony (Ally), Joshua, Trey(Taylor), Clay (Riley), Deaven, Tyler, Blake, and Gage. Great grandchildren Grayson and Weston. His nephew Richard (Donna) Lewis and niece Zoe Lyn Lewis. His favorite twins Kathleen Lee & Nadine Evans. Along with his beloved pets Hazel & Moses.

Preceding him in death is his beloved wife Sharon Melton, parents Dorothy and Troy, as well as his sister Dottie Jean Lewis.

He will be missed dearly by those who knew him.
