It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Troy Steve Brogden, who passed away Saturday, January 24th, 2026 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. A visitation will be held for him at his home church of Peace Free Will Baptist Church in Florence on Wednesday, January 28th from 1:00 to 2:00pm. With Funeral Service following immediately afterward at 2:00pm in the church. He will then be laid to rest at Florence Memorial Gardens.
Born on March 2, 1954, in Goldsboro, NC, to Troy Brogden and Lucille Walston Brogden. Steve lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering spirit. He was a beloved husband to his wife, Debbie Brogden, and their bond was a testament to true love and partnership. Steve’s career in sales with Blanchard Caterpillar Heavy Equipment showcased his remarkable work ethic and passion for helping others, where he worked for 32 years and then retired from in 2019. That same year he began helping Belk Funeral Home as a funeral director assistant. He worked every service with compassion and kindness. Steve also retired from being a South Carolina State Constable. He wore many hats as a Sunday School teacher, a chairman and trustee at church. Also, was a trustee and board member for the SCFWB Disaster Relief Team. He was known for his warmth, humor, and willingness to lend a hand to those in need. Steve's presence touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of compassion and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Steve leaves behind his loving wife Debbie Floyd Brogden, children: Jennifer Smith of Columbia, Ashley Nicole (Adrian) Felice, and Allyssa Marie (Corbin) Saunders. Grandchildren: Kayla Lewis, Trent Lewis, Chayce Luna, Caylie Turpin, Braylon Felice, and Colt Saunders. Also his sister Barbara (Sammie) Stone, and nephew Kip Stone. The family extends their appreciation to Dr. Mark Steadman for his care. Members of the SCFWB Disaster Relief Board and Sunday School Class of Peace FWBC are asked to sit together as honorary pallbearers. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Troy Brogden and Lucille Brogden. May we remember Steve for his love, laughter, and the joy he brought to our lives.
