Thelma Galloway McKay Dudley, known by many as "Miz McKay", age 94, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 20th, with a visitation following at Florence Baptist Temple, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The burial will take place at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Florence National Cemetery for those who would like to attend. Miz McKay was born October 28, 1924; she was the daughter of the late Wiley Galloway and Ida Mae Weatherford Galloway. She was owner and operator of Miz McKay's Country Kitchen, and then later operated the restaurants in the Holiday Inn and Thunderbird Hotel. She published weekly articles for the Morning News titled "Miz McKay's Home Cookin". She was known for her cooking and her sense of humor. Miz McKay was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord and was a member of Florence Baptist Temple. Surviving are her children, Wayne (Connie) McKay, Edward Prendergast, both of Florence, Michael (Sonya) Prendergast of Timmonsville, and Maggie (Glenn) Kirven of Effingham. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Vara Norman of Florence. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Dudley; son, Steve McKay; sisters, Margaret White, Ann Laggett; granddaughters, Emily Ann Prendergast and Missy Riley.
