T. Wayne Tolson

Thomas Wayne Tolson, age 79, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29 at Mechanicsville Baptist Church, with burial following in Mechanicsville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Belk Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Lisa and Earl Seawell, 1914 Cashua Ferry Rd. Darlington. Born April 8, 1938, Wayne is the son of the late Carl Alvin Tolson and Alberta Chavis Tolson. He served in the U.S. Army, Army Reserves, and the National Guard. He enjoyed his career as a farmer. Wayne was known as a collector of antiques and other "stuff". He was a Shriner, a life member of the Free Masons, and a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lynn Barber Thornton Tolson; his daughters, Lisa (Earl) Seawell and Elizabeth (Anthony) Owens; his granddaughter, Brittany McCarty; his great-grandchild, Cassandra Lundy; his step-grandchildren, Kaylee Elizabeth Owens and Corey Jordan; his brother, Donnie (Carol) Gainey of Ocala, Florida. Also surviving are Lynn's son, Richie Thornton, and granddaughter, Madeline Thornton whom lovingly called Wayne "Pops", and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Iris Booth Tolson, his second wife, Margaret Cooke Tolson, and his sister, Patricia Capps. Memorials may be made to Mechanicsville Baptist Church Nicaragua Mission Fund, 2364 Cashua Ferry Rd, Darlington, SC 29532.
