Sylvia Cameron Britton, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. A visitation will take place from the times of 2:00pm until 3:00pm on Sunday, March 10th in Belk Funeral Home, with a funeral service following at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Belk Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Sylvia was born on August 1, 1939 in Georgetown County, she is the daughter of the late Richard Cameron and Eadimae Goude Cameron. Mrs. Britton graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1957 and went on to attend Columbia College. In 1960 Sylvia married the love of her life, James (Jamie) Davis Britton. Sylvia worked for Coleman Aimar, Darlington Hospital and Florence Hospital in administration for many years and truly enjoyed her job.

Sylvia and her husband "Jamie" were deeply involved in their church, and anything their children were engaged in.  The love they had for each other was so special and after Jamie's passing, Sylvia stayed true to the family values they had established together and continued on supporting and loving the family they had built.

Mrs. Britton loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and when they attended "Camp Nanny" they knew playing in mud puddles and eating Doritos for breakfast was the rule for the day.  To see her grandchildren smile and laugh filled her heart with love.  The annual family vacations to the beach meant that Sylvia would be with her family and grandchildren, all together, under one roof and that was just the best for her.

Nothing compared to the Holiday Season at Nanny's.  With help from her sister Lynn, her entire family would come together and her kitchen became filled with amazing food, treats and a bounty of love.  Sylvia had that special gift of always making everyone feel welcome into her home and just like her mother, Sylvia meant that you were going to have something good to eat.

Everything she did was for her family.  The cooking and baking, the caring for the grandchildren when their mom and dad were away or simply having a weekend visit provided her with quality time spent with family and this gave her such happiness.

Sylvia was a strong woman of faith; she had an unbreakable relationship with her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Davy (Sharon) Britton and Donna (Karl) Kimball, her grandchildren, William Richard Britton (Cierra), Hunter Graham Britton (Jessie), Chase Alexander Kimball, Colby Davis Kimball and Kru James Lancto. She is also survived by her sister, Lynn (Ronald) Turner of Hemingway.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, James Davis Britton who passed away in 2001.

In honor of Mrs. Britton memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial UMC c/o Brenda Baird at 211 Belvin Street Darlington, SC 29532 and McLeod Hospice at P.O. Box 100551 Florence, SC 29501-0551.

We will all deeply miss Sylvia "Nanny" Britton and by her example, may we all love our family's and friends in the manner she would love each of us.  May God's grace and mercy bring you peace.
