Susan (Riles) Outlaw

We sadly announce the passing of Susan Outlaw, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted nurse, who departed this life on October 12, 2025, at the age of 75. A longtime resident of Darlington, South Carolina, Susan touched countless lives through her compassionate service in pediatric nursing. She was born to the late Freeland Riles and Grace Campbell Riles on December 24th, 1949.

For over 35 years—most of them spent at Eastern Carolina Pediatrics under the guidance of Dr. Farrish—Susan devoted herself to caring for generations of children. She was known not only for her clinical skill but for the warmth and empathy she brought to every patient and family she encountered. Many of the children she once cared for would later return with children of their own, a testament to the trust and love she fostered over the years.

Colleagues remember Susan as a nurturing and tireless presence, someone who always placed the well-being of others above her own. Her legacy in the medical community, and in the hearts of those she served, is enduring.

Susan is survived by her beloved son, Scott Outlaw, and her cherished grandson, Campbell Outlaw. They will forever carry her memory in their hearts, as will all who were touched by her kindness and dedication.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life her husband, Donnie Outlaw, Jr. Her parents and her brother, Wayne Riles.

A visitation will be held at Susan's home located at 234 Pinewood Drive in Darlington, on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025, at 5 to 7pm.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Grove Hill Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor Susan's life and legacy. She will be laid to rest surrounded by the love of her family and community.

In this time of sorrow, we invite all who knew and loved Susan to join us in celebrating a life marked by compassion, service, and unwavering love. Her spirit will live on in the many lives she so deeply touched.
