Shirley Ann (Watford) Atkinson

Shirley Ann Watford Atkinson, age 77, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at her residence. A visitation will be held Sunday at Belk Funeral Home from 3:00pm until 4:00pm, with a service following in the chapel. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Shirley was born in Darlington County on June 20, 1945. She is the daughter of the late Roscoe Watford, Sr. and Lula Mae Gainey. Shirley worked as a Nurse for many years. She enjoyed gardening and watching a good western movie. Shirley was an animal lover especially when it came to her geese which she loved dearly. Shirley was "rich in love" for her family and had a passion for feeding people.

She is survived by her children: Teresa A. (Buck) Sanders, Missy Baird, Tonya (Gene) Ham, Shane (Tonya) Atkinson, and Shasta (Lee Grant) Atkinson, grandchildren: Kasey, Kerri, Eddie, Chad, Meagan, Jacob, Chasity, Cori, Zachary, and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings; Viola Oakley, Margaret Grier, Billy (Kaye) Watford and daughter-in-law Linda Atkinson.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Atkinson, Sr., son, Robbie C. Atkinson, Jr., and siblings; Jr. Watford, Patsy Watford, Melvin Watford, and Myrtle Hodge.
