Shirley T. (Tolson) Weatherford

Shirley Tolson Weatherford, age 83, died on Christmas Eve morning at her residence.   A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Mechanicsville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 Sunday in the chapel at Mechanicsville Baptist Church. The service will be live streamed on Shirley's tribute page at www.belkfuneralhome.com

Born in Chesterfield County, she was the daughter of the late Maxie and Aileen Gainey Tolson.  Shirley loved children, and was affectionately known as "Momma" to many that she helped raise.  She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.  She was a member of Brown Springs Baptist Church and attended Mechanicsville Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, J.L. Weatherford, children: Barry Huggins, Donna Huggins both of Hartsville and Teresa Huggins of Chesterfield, many grandchildren, a step-son, Kelvin Weatherford, and a step-grandson.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Barbara Jordan, Ann Teal, and Maxine Chisolm, brothers, Carrol Tolson, Maxie Tolson ,a best friend who was like a sister, Jean Gainey and a grandson.
