Shirley Ann (Cassidy) Pace

August 7, 1946 — July 3, 2025

Darlington

Shirley Ann (Cassidy) Pace, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2025, surrounded by friends and family.
Shirley was born on August 7, 1946, in the Clyde area of Hartsville, SC, to Arthur and
Edith Cassidy. She was a graduate of Hartsville High School, Class of 1964. Shirley was the loving wife of William "Bill" Pace and the most amazing mother to her two children, Billy and Shannon.
For many years, she had a successful career in retail management with Belk of
Darlington and One Price Clothing of Darlington and Florence. She loved all animals and seemed to emit a light that attracted them to her. In her later years, she participated in the "Keep Your Fork" Food Ministry. She was an avid baker and enjoyed providing cakes for two groups in which she participated- "Young at Hearts" of St. Anthony's Church of Florence and the
American Legion Post 13. With a loving and giving heart, she would package each piece and decorate the boxes to represent each upcoming holiday.
Shirley was a devoted Christian and her faith in God was a cornerstone of her life. She
attended church at Bethea Retirement Community, and though she was not a resident there, felt this was her home church and developed a special friendship with Pastor Jeff Cockrell and many others.
Preceding her in death are her parents and three brothers T.R. Cassidy, Reverend Ray
Cassidy, and Dr. Pete Cassidy.
Surviving her are her loving husband of 60 years, Bill Pace, and her two children, "Billy"
(Elizabeth) Pace of Summerville, SC and Shannon (Pace) Music of Darlington, SC.
Shirley shared a special relationship with her nephew, Danny Ray Cassidy of Hartsville, and her best friend for more than 50 years, Joyce Watford of Darlington, whom she always referred to as her "adopted sister." She also leaves behind her furbaby of 13 years, Sachi, and a multitude of
nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Shirley was known for her unwavering support and boundless love. Her love and wisdom will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
