Sandra “Sandy” Horner Lemmons, age 80, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026 at her home. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so from 1:00 until 5:00 at Belk Funeral Home Tuesday. A service will beld at 1:00 Wednesday in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home.
Born on February 11, 1946, Sandy was the daughter of the late Henry Horner and Annie May Horner. After serving the community in drug and alcohol rehabilitation, she served as a homemaker and retired in Darlington, SC. Sandy’s pastimes included spending her summers in Salter Path, NC with her family, continuing her late husband’s beach music passion online, (“Mack’s Place at the Beach”), and following along and sharing about her children and grandchildren’s hobbies and activities. She then continued her husband and father-in-law’s legacy by continuing to operate “Mack’s Place at Darlington Raceway”, where Nascar fans have a safe place to park their RVs for weekend races. We hope Sandy is shagging to beach music down the streets of gold and taking beautiful photos of the sunset from Heaven.
Surviving are her two daughters, Angela Lemmons Duty (David) of Durham, NC, and Rebecca Lemmons Massengill (Jeffrey) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; one son, Daniel Edward Todd III (Lisa) of Vero Beach, Fl.; was lovingly known as “Mawmaw” to her eleven grandchildren (Ashleigh, Allison, Austin, Bayley, Macks, Nathaniel, Samuel, Matthew, Campbell, Connor, and Catherine), eight great-grandchildren (Samuel, Sawyer, Aubriella, Will, Claire, James, Eleanor, and Henry); and her fur baby, Barkley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Mack Lemmons Jr.; a son, Samuel Lemmons; and a daughter, Jennifer Lemmons Price.
The family would like to personally thank Chris Brown and Geneva Barber for their love and compassion during this difficult time. Donations may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 1416 Lamar Hwy. Darlington, SC 29532.
