Russell 'Rusty' Odom

Russell N. 'Rusty' Odom, age 70, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the McLeod Hospice House. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 10, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home and other times at 119 Edwards Ave, Darlington. Mr. Odom was born in Darlington SC. He was the son of the late Laurin N. and Marie J. Odom. He served in the US Marine Corps and was a Viet Nam Veteran. Rusty owned and operated a salon in Darlington, Klip Joint II, for many years. He will be remembered as a wonderful hairstylist and a great "front-porch philosopher". He also worked for Harvest Hope Food Bank of the Pee Dee. Rusty enjoyed riding his Harley and playing an occasional round of golf. He was a member of Indian Branch Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Anita P. Odom, four sons: Laurin N. (Nate) Odom, of San Antonio, Texas, Zachery B. Odom of Columbia, SC, Samuel C. Pohl, student at the University of SC, and Roddy E. Goodman of the home; two brothers: R. Les (Ina Claire) Odom of Sylva, NC, and Wayne Odom of Darlington, SC, his sister: Sandra P. (Jerry) Arnold of Hartwell, GA and many adoring nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara O. Hinds and a brother, Ralph M. Odom In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Indian Branch United Methodist Church P.O. Box 456, Darlington, SC 29540.
