Ruby Elizabeth Parnell

Ruby Elizabeth Parnell died on Monday March 25th, 2024, in Bethea Baptist Health Care Center. Graveside services will be held 4pm Thursday in Lamar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening 6 to 8 pm at Belk Funeral Home Lamar Chapel.

Ruby was born August 23rd, 1924, the daughter of Hattie Windham Parnell and Gary Parnell, Sr. in Lamar, SC. She was married to the late G.L. Parnell. Ruby worked with Carolina Bank as a bank teller for many years in Lamar. She enjoyed working in her yards and going to dinner with Polly Holt, her sisters Mildred Bell and Lois Amerson, also her daughter Sherrill Dorriety they could always find humor in any situation. Mrs. Parnell was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church.

Surviving is her daughter Sherrill Dorriety, her grandchildren Tammy (Mike) Windham and Mechelle (the late Tony) Stevens. Greatgrandchildren Chris (Marybeth) Windham, Joseph (Krystal) Stevens, Besty (Calvin) Porter with 9 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, husband, she is predeceased by her siblings Robert Elvis Parnell, Lois P. Amerson, Gary Parnell, Jr. and Mildred Bell, son-in-law Joey Dorriety and great granddaughter Courtney Stevens.

The family would like to thank Victoria and Leah with Gentiva Hospice and the staff of Bethea Baptist home for their compassionate care of Ruby.
