Ronald Franklin Scott, 67, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 after a long illness. The son of the late Benjamin Franklin Scott and the late Inez Julia McKinney Scott, he grew up in Greenwood, S.C., before graduating from Clemson University in 1974 with a degree in Building Construction. He began his career at J.A. Jones Construction in Charlotte, N.C., then moved to Darlington, S.C., in 1977. He worked with Willis Construction Company of Florence, S.C., for more than 30 years and served as its president.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Calhoun Scott, and his children, Julia Elizabeth Scott and Ronald Calhoun Scott, all of Darlington, S.C. He is also survived by his stepmother, Mary Frances Scott, stepsister, Dana Wells (Larry), stepbrother, John Shaffer (Carol), and brother-in-law, John Calhoun, Jr.
He was a longtime member of Darlington Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Darlington Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the memorial service. A private burial will be held prior to the service.
