It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Wayne Baird, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Roger died on July 2, 2026, in a local hospital. Born on January 20, 1943, in Sumter, South Carolina, Roger filled the lives of those around him with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit.

A proud veteran of the National Guard, Roger's commitment to service extended beyond his military life into his career in the manufacturing industry, where he worked with dedication for James Rivers and Perfection Clutch. Roger was known for his athleticism and passion for sports, particularly baseball. An avid bass fisherman, he often found peace on the water, enjoying the quiet moments that nature provided. His creativity shone through in his woodworking, where he crafted pieces that will remain cherished reminders of his talent and skill.

A faithful and devoted member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Roger served in many capacities, including as a Lay Leader. His commitment to his faith and the community reflected his kind heart and desire to uplift those around him. His love for his family was profound—his wife, Brenda Maloch Baird, his daughters, Keisha Baird and Amber (Abe) Lewis, his grandchildren, Madison(Dylan) Griggs, Faith (Coleman) Jordan, Macey (Jason) Norton, Brayden Lewis, and Able Baird Lewis, were the center of his world. Roger’s first great -grandchild, Elouise “El” Norton is to be born soon.

As a gifted singer, Roger shared his beautiful voice in musicals during his younger years, leaving behind a legacy of joy (and some laughs) that his family will always remember. He had a special bond with not only his loved ones but also all the family pets through the years.

Visitation for Roger will be held at Belk Funeral Home on Monday July 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM, his funeral service will take place on July 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM, also at Belk Funeral Home, followed by burial at Darlington Memory Gardens.
