Ricky Allen Blackwell

Ricky Allen Blackwell, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2025 at his home in Spartanburg, SC.  A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 20 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home in Lamar with a visitation being held one hour prior.

Born in Darlington County on July 18, 1969, he was the son of the late Roger Allen Blackwell and Sharon Hall Rogers. Ricky lost his sight and his hearing at a young age, and faced those struggles with a positive attitude. Ricky loved space shuttles, and was a  huge University of South Carolina gamecock fan. Anyone attending his service Sunday is encouraged to wear their Carolina colors. Ricky grew up in Lamar First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sharon and Tommy Rogers of Mullins, his sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Kevin Stanton of Florence, step-mother, Marilyn Blackwell of Lamar, his niece, Kourtney (Kaleb) Kopischka, and special cousins whom he adored, Didi (Gene) Warr and Denise (Tony) Morris.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Blackwell and aunts, Bea Blackwell and Mary Anderson.

Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home or the SC School for the Deaf and Blind
