Richard Thomas Spinazzola, 92 of Darlington, SC. passed away March 1st, 2025 peacefully in his home.
He was born October 8th, 1932 in Altoona, Pennsylvania and was the son of Anthony Spinazzola and Donatina "Margaret " Ferrone Spinazzola.
"Spinny" as he was best known, retired from General Electric in 1992. He was an engineer and loved to invent and tinker. He could "fix" anything. His hobbies were golf, remote control airplanes, boating and playing cards. But his biggest late in life passion was Pickleball. He helped establish and organize the Florence Pickleball Club in 2015. He made many cherished friendships on the pickleball courts.
Spinny was united in marriage for 17 years to Debbie Spinazzola, who survives.
He is also survived by his children, Mark (Carol) Spinazzola, Matt Spinazzola, Lynn (Steve) Anderson, Traci (Kary) Via. Six grandchildren, Chris (Eliza) Spinazzola, Hali Spinazzola, Sara Elise (A.J.) Mabry, Jake Via, Tyler Anderson and Jesse Via. Two great grands, Atticus and Ezra Mabry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Sara Gramly Spinazzola, his wife of 52 years. He was also predeceased by a sister Betty and brother, Donnie.
A service celebrating his life will be at Belk Funeral Home, Monday, March 3rd 2pm. Fr. Dan Papineau officiating.
Private burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
