Richard G Dority

Richard George Dority, age 88, died Sunday, March 27, 2022 in McLeod Hospice House in Florence. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 30th in the Darlington Chapel at Belk Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Kenny Knotts, with burial following at Lake Swamp Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, and other times at his residence, 446 South Sansbury Rd. Timmonsville, SC 29161.

Born in Darlington County, Richard was the son of the late Emma Ham and Josey Dority. He served in the Army National Guard for 12 years. He worked in farming, and later worked for Pee Dee Electric Coop. Richard was a member of Lamar Free Will Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Dority; one brother, three sisters, and a half-brother. Surviving are his children, Bonnie (Charles) Howard, Bennie (Beth) Dority, Ellen "Judy" (David) Amerson, Wanda (Ronnie) Howard, Billy Ray (Penny) Dority, all of Timmonsville, Deborah (Gene) Reynolds of Lamar and Lorrann (Carl) Morrell of Rathdrum, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
