Ralph Amon Richardson

Ralph Amon Richardson, husband, father, and dear friend to all, passed away on July 14, 2017, in Society Hill, SC. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 17th at Welsh Neck Baptist Church in Society Hill, with burial following in the church cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Sunday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Born January 8, 1947 in Society Hill, Ralph was the son of Eltie and Bessie Truitt Richardson. After serving in the National Guard, Ralph worked for over 40 years as an Inspection Supervisor at Galey & Lord, where he was loved and respected by all who worked with him. Known for his warm, infectious smile and friendly, outgoing manner, Ralph had a wonderful sense of humor and was always able to find a silver lining, no matter how dire the situation. Devoted friends numbered in the hundreds. His love for his home, his town, his church, his cattle, and his farm was deep and true. His passion for, and devotion to his family, especially his wife and two sons and their families, was immeasurable. He was a loyal member of Welsh Neck Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and sang in the choir. Ralph is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine Frye Richardson; sons, Wade (Spring) of Southport, NC, and Ryan (Sara Ashley) of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Caroline and Landon; sister, Shirley (Mike) King of Peachtree City, GA; a special aunt, Anna Dean Frye of Bennettsville, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless special friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Lewis Richardson; and his sister, Rita Vaughan. Memorials may be made to Welsh Neck Baptist Church, 112 Church St, Society Hill, SC 29593.
