Ralph Herbert Manship

Ralph Herbert Manship, Jr., age 82, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024. The family of Mr. Manship will be receiving friends on Sunday, January 7th at Belk Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Michelle at 217 Ash Street in Darlington.

Ralph was born in Darlington on July 19, 1941 son of the late Ralph Herbert Manship and Margaret Hobson Manship. Ralph served in the United States Army. He worked maintenance for Dixie Cup for many years until his retirement, while working for Dixie Cup he went to school and got his exterminating license and was also a known drafter. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed, some of which were painting, coin collecting, and writing short stories.

Ralph is survived by his children, Michelle Manship-Cranford of Darlington, Lisa (Keith O'Neal) Manship of Darlington, sisters, Mary (John) Benton, Frances Kelly, and his brother Jimmy Manship. Also surviving is the mother of his children who helped take care of Ralph until the end, Barbara Purvis, lifetime friend and neighbor, Richard Boan and a special family friend, Elizabeth Tolson Owens.

In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by his brothers, Barney Manship, Ronnie Manship, and a sister-in-law, Fran Manship.
