R. L. Huggins

R.L. Huggins, age 82, died at his home on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 2, 2018 in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 11:45 Friday at Belk Funeral Home. Born in Darlington, R.L. was the son of the late Leo and Lillian Page Huggins. Mr. Huggins enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, but was honorably discharged to come home and take of his family. Shortly after that, he went to work at Dixie Cup, and worked there until his retirement, some fifty years later. He will be remembered for his "sparky" personality and a man who worked hard his entire life. Mr. Huggins was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda and Rickey Turnage of Laurinburg, NC, Christy and Marty Blackmon of Darlington, two grandchildren, R.J. Turnage and Tallon Reaugh, his great-grandchild, Braxton Reaugh, his sister, Faye H. Galloway of Darlington, several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Amber Rodgers, and his faithful canine companion, Charlie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Faye Huggins, and two sisters, Nell H. Holloway and Rita N. Harrell.
