Penny Lee Overby

Penny Lee Overby, 76, of Hartsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family following a long and courageous battle with cancer. In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held at this time. A private memorial will take place at a later date.

Penny was born on July 28, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Clifton and Virginia Overby. Throughout her courageous battle with cancer, she was surrounded by the love and support of her family.

Penny is survived by her two daughters, Dawn A. (Cecil) Dutton of Hartsville, SC, and Carol Richardson of Fork, SC; grandson, M. Brooks (Jessica) Garris of Lumberton, NC; granddaughters, Sara (Josh) Rabon of Galivants Ferry, SC, and Riley Richardson of Fork, SC; and five great-grandchildren, Addy Garris, Ivy Garris, Daisy Garris, Josie Rabon, and Hattie Rabon. She is also survived by her sisters, Gloria Gladback of Missoula, MT, Sandy (Frank) Scarpine of Mission Viejo, CA, and Cheryl (Dwayne) Lang of Laughlin, NV; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by her brother, Clifton "Butch" Overby; sister, Gay (Bob) Begin; and niece, Shannon Wilson.
